Ø
Who owns
this aircraft/project?
This Electra is privately owned by a New Zealand based aviation trust. It is considered a living piece of history in their custody, rather than owned.
Ø
Will the
aircraft be for sale upon completion?
No. It may be available for movie and airshow display work to assist with funding its upkeep for future generations.
Ø
When do you think it will be ready to fly?
Target is approximately 2 to 3 years from now (2008), but this will depend on whether finances will allow employment of more staff.
Ø
What paint scheme will be used on this aircraft?
The aircraft's aluminium skins will be polished to a mirror
finish, with one side carrying the Chilean ‘Linea Area Nacional’ logo and the other carrying the
Union Airways logo.
The usual red Lockheed ‘lightning bolt’
and trim will also be applied. Cowlings and nose will be
painted as per the original Lockheed scheme. Areas
behind the engines, windscreen frame and parts of the belly will be
painted silver for practical maintenance.
Ø
Will the interior be fitted out as per the original?
Yes - this aircraft
will have the authentic original style airliner
interior.
Ø
Where is the aircraft located / can I view the project?
Due to the massive
amount of work required to complete this aircraft and
the limited staff numbers, we are generally unable to
accommodate visitors. This allows maximum effort to be
expended on restoring the L10A to its former glory.
Regular updates will be posted on this web site.
Ø
Will
you restore my aircraft for me?
Sorry, no - we have our
hands full for the moment - see our links & contacts
page for restoration companies in New Zealand
